About Us

AISHA is an independent non-profit Palestinian woman NGO that seeks to protect, support and empower vulnerable women and children victims of violence psychosocially, legally and economically through facilitating access to protection and support services. Prior to 2009 and since 1996, AISHA used to operate under the name "Women Empowerment Program (WEP)" as the women department within the Gaza Community Mental Health Program (GCHMP). AISHA got registration from the ministry of interior no. 8136 in September 2009 and officially started to work under the name of AISHA as woman organization in 2011.

Ever since its establishment, Aisha has developed and applied a Gender Mainstreaming in all fields of implementation, and worked on the empowerment of vulnerable women and children victims of violence in response to the identified needs in the Women and children portion of the community. AISHA started adopting the individual empowerment approach which takes into consideration the individual differences. Accordingly, it has been successful in achieving substantially higher rates of empowerment. AISHA continued a conduit to reach the targeted beneficiaries.

On the other hand, focus has been given to influence the community agenda through the sensitization of key individuals and organizations towards the issues of domestic violence, gender equality, and feminist issues. Also, AISHA works on mobilizing and lobbying opinion to influence and pressure on decision-making to get a favourable laws and legislation for women and children in all fields.

Strategic Goals

The following strategic objectives orient all AISHA activities: 1. Strategic Goal # 1: Vulnerable women and girls’ survivors of GBV protected through coordinated, multi-sectorial and gender responsive services including case management, psychosocial support, legal counseling, court representation, economic opportunities, and referral services. 2. Strategic Goal # 2: Family strengthened and child/adolescent protected through caregivers’ support, service delivery to children including psychological support, legal aid, remedial education, and medication; spreading the culture of positive discipline; and enhancing knowledge on SRHR. 3. Strategic Goals # 3: Addicted women and girls in the Gaza Strip, benefit from the delivery of integrated, quality, and evidence based mental health and substance abuse prevention and treatment services through developed AISHA Community Center.

Target Group

Target Groups - Women & men: female head of Households-FHHs, victims of violence/at risk, GBV survivors, displaced, youth, graduates, elderly people, persons with disabilities, parents, mental illness, addicted, wives of addicted, university students, etc. - Boys & girls: school students, orphans, disabilities, street children, victims of violence/at risk, GBV survivors, over age, etc. - Service providers: Aisha staff, social workers, psychological worker, media, health staff, school staff, lawyers, judges, municipal workers, etc. whether (Government, local governance, or UNRWA) - Decision makers: Government, local governance, UNRWA, Internationals from health, media, social affairs, women, legitimate council. - Community leaders: Mukhtars, Women leaders, human right activists, etc.
