Mental health is an integral part of health in general, mental and physical health are on health spectrum itself that affect in each other as a dynamic relationship, if our mental health is good, the health in general will be good and vice versa.
How do we understand the fear caused by the spread of covid-19 and deal with it in a way that does not affect negatively on our mental and physical health?
A person needs to learn to be calm and careful in facing fear to think correctly, in order to protect our mental and physical health at the same time.
This requires to calm our brains and handle with covid-19 updates in order to know the true facts about the virus and prevent from it correctly.
We have to understand how we think to face our fears and anxieties and deal with it in correct way in order to make better decisions and steps in facing the virus.
It is normal to be stressed in facing something that we cannot see and because everyone has a different reaction, we need to notice what our body and feelings are telling us:
- Express your feelings and note the feelings of sadness, anger, and anxiety you feel.
- Pay attention to yourself and your body, and notice any change in your appetite or new aches and pains.
- If you notice any of the disturbing symptoms, you have to take care of your body and mind, and consult a specialist if the symptoms intensify to you.
Fear reaches into all details of your daily life, and as a result of this, you may make many wrong decisions and adopt many misperceptions. Therefore, you must take care of yourself by practices that work in normal days and the same during crises or difficult times.

To keep you and your love safe, you must follow healthy practices:
- Stay at home.
- Avoid crowded areas and places where you may integrate with people.
- Use tissues when coughing or sneezing.
- Wash your hands with soap and water for 40 seconds at least.
- Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth.
- Clean everything and surfaces that are frequently touched by hands, and sterilize them with household cleanser or a wet tissue.
- You must wash everything you buy from the market before using. To be in the safe side, start using anything that entering the house from outside after three or more hours, until the number of viruses on its surface reduces to the number that is difficult to infect.
Misleading news increases our fear and affects negatively on the mental health:
It is difficult for us to put risks in right perspective with everything published on Facebook or Twitter pages or in newscasts that do not ensure accuracy and credibility.
If the news about covid-19 bother you, you can avoid media reporting for a while.
Meanwhile, if you find yourself followed the news and can't stop of doing it, you need to take a break and put limits for yourself.
The decisive factor here, is obtaining good information and avoid the rumors, fake news and social media posts.
In the end, we say that your positive mood helps you to protect your immune system, and that your negative thoughts weaken your immune system and make it unable to fight viruses.
